Find Papers
In a relational database, everything becomes
connected. This means that a single piece of information coming
from a given paper is connected to all the other entries for that
paper. Moreover, information - coming from many papers - can
be selected and aggregated as needed. The databases being used
in this project include hundreds of tables containing thousands of
columns. Such a large system becomes essential when
one wishes to capture and duplicate the complexity of biology.
Getting information into a
database is hard work, getting it out is wonderfully easy - even
for a beginner. Most of the database screens in
the software use a query by example (QBE) interface that
requires little more than typing in simple requests and pressing a
Retrieve button. Numerous worked examples and detailed
instructions can be found in the recent reports and software
releases.
